DELEWARE (2002)

Inspired in part by the jail house art of soap carving, Delaware features a delicate and impossibly small carving of General George Washington crossing the Delaware. The carving, which is based entirely upon the composition in Emanual Leutze’s famous painting, sits nestled inside an origami dollar bill boat. This in turn floats on a glass dish and under a dome at the center of a faux Federalist antique display table.
