AVIAN RESERVOIR (2007)

In Andreas' first wall installation, majestic wood wings are propelled into downward strokes. Referencing movement of a large powerful bird, the sculpture is triggered into motion by loss of water. From within the winged body mounted to the wall, a defined amount of water slowly drips out. Removing the water's weight lifts the reservoir thus lowering the wings. The dripping among a quiet, serene environment creates an echo familiar to a leaky faucet. In an environment flooded with noise of busy lives, water falling becomes indistinguishable among white noise. "'Avian Reservoir' conceptually speaks to the repercussions of water depletion as a priceless natural, global resource." - MA
