RESIGN SCULPTURE (2004-5)

Ruth Marshall utilizes her all access pass as an exhibition designer at the Bronx Zoo to collect, study, cast and archieve a menagerie of animals. Gorilla hands are cast during routine physicals and must be completed in a matter of minutes before the primate awakes. Antlers shed are gathered from cages. While Marshall's sculptures reflect trophies- they are inherently opposite... The clear glasslike possessions reference natural beauty too esoterical to be caught. These are gems left by animals who live on.
