(NYC)
Manning the March of Fairs

Scope New York @ Lincoln Center
Dates: March 4 – March 8

Dam, Stuhltrager takes a coveted position at Scope NY. Seen from every direction, their booth faces the front door straight down the center aisle. It flutters with Ryan Wolfe’s installation that was too good to be contained and now extends – on very special request from scope – into the adjacent VIP lounge greeting the Who’s Who of the art world. (BKLYN)
Driving the No Sleep ‘Till Brooklyn Bound Train

SATURDAY MARCH 7th is a night when many, many things convene at Dam, Stuhltrager.  An exhibit opens. A special performance brings fire to the street and sand to the floor. New galleries are welcomed to the Brooklyn. And…  Staples of Williamsburg’s art community perform together as one, exemplifying why they are proud to call Brooklyn home and each other neighbor.

New work by: Anna Frants & Alexandra Dementieva
Opening Reception: March 7th (7- 10pm)
Dates: March 7th - April 5th

We discern 24 still pictures per second (and often 60) flashed before our eyes as a moving image. It is a trick of the eye on the brain, a learned behavior, an unconscious reaction, a human response. (Thank you, Lumière Brothers! We are salivating to your picture!) But from all the individual stills necessitated to create a moving picture- which frames deserve regard? Anna Frants’ installation “Conversation” employs the obsolete technology, a slide projector, to slow down the pace of the individual frames within moving images to open dialogue.

Viewers of Alexandra Dementieva’s work, “Drama House” pay house calls on unsuspecting residents. Buzzing one of eight bells summons dwellers of a fantasy apartment building to their open window. Projected video of the tenants - servants, intellectuals, wealth, middle-class, professionals, immigrants and criminals - gives the voyeur access to society’s home life.  (View full Press Release)
