Kathleen Vance reanimates fallen branches and limbs into interwoven, entangled binding systems in her large scale “Boundsticks”. Mark Andreas choreographes water to serve as an autocatalysis for a spontaneous performance by the latest work in his "Reactive Sculpture" series. Ryan Wolfe blurs parameters of a technological virtual experience with reality in “Study for A Perfect Storm” - an artwork just completed during a 6 mo residency at RSP. In this participatory video installation, a viewer's presence triggers a storm which gains intensity the longer the onlooker wills it by remaining watching. |

Dam, Stuhltrager Gallery Brooklyn, New York |
|
For Immediate Release: It is time to admit we no longer fit into the same outfit we have looked good in all the years past. The gallery program has expanded its waistline to include a European extension. The gallery artists have stepped into bigger, tailored shoes. The gallerist has been fitted to wear new prestigious hats. DSG is headed to a new, larger Brooklyn location that suits the local artists it has grown with and the new international program it has grown into. This summer, DSG Berlin's 6 month old duckling emerges a swan. This coming year, DSG Brooklyn's teenager gets the braces taken off. |

GROWING, EXPANDING AND STAYING IN GERMANY! Dam, Stuhltrager BERLIN (The EAST/WEST Project) moved in January 2010 to an incredible new storefront on Fichtestraße in Kreuzberg! With The GRIMMUSEUM as neighbor on the right and The Berliner Unterwelten Museum as neighbor to the left - there is no place we’d rather be in Berlin.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Let it snow. We have the warm glow... Exhibit: “Resplendency” Exploring physical and metaphysical ideas of illumination, “Resplendency” gathers artists who go beyond utilizing contemporary light technologies as their medium to make statements on what conceptually light references within today’s society. From LEDs to light boxes to phosphorous pigments to neon to projection - the works in this exhibit offer different renditions of what meaning is latent in having light, giving light, reflecting light, finding light and being enlightened. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: It began when the artist was a child... Exhibit: <I PLAY I> The ways artists express themselves creatively is traced back to their childhood. From constructing cities with blocks to banging on pots to making tree forts to devising strategies to win games - an artist begins a life of creating with curiosity, wonder and unencumbered imagination which is developed through "PLAY". One can only hope these traits are not abandoned with youth and instead mature into a distinct artistic voice. In <I PLAY I> at ConcentArt, installations embody how sophisticated curiosity, wonder and unencumbered imagination can in essence, become ageless. A futuristic, miniature city is daintily ordered and delicately planned to cast a societal shadow. Sculptures whimsically move and generate sounds in reaction to someone walking nearby to grab attention. Peeking one's head inside a suspended boat divulges the view from the hideaway's perspective. Moving cans of "fodder" creates a panorama of an environment nearing extinction... <I PLAY I> reminds us we are never too old to remember what we've learned and to dream bigger than that.
