Twin Reflections deals with shifting realities in artists work either in their formal or conceptual qualities. |
Sept: MassArt, Boston in Sept... Jan: Museum of Art & Design, NY 2006 BCA Grant Recipient |
Brian Getnick’s "Hog Head Theater" is an oversized pig portrait made from cardboard. When viewed from the opposite direction, the hollow cavern inside the swine's skull creates a miniature scale theater. A small drawing of a potted palm dimly back lit stars center stage. Further pushing into a folkloric state, Getnick creates a site specific drawing that presses the walls of the gallery into the realm of an ancient wooden church in the Carpathian mountains. |
Rob Carter's video animation "Four Extracts from Stills" depicts people collapsing into shifting worlds. In Carter's photographic work from "The Fallen Book" and the "Transfer Series", small windows emerge in landscape or architecture that one could fall into much like Alice’s rabbit hole in Wonderland. ,,mnlkkkkkkkkkkklnklllllnkkkk kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk |

Coming Soon : |
The continuous expansion and updating of databases has both made information about people more accessible and conversely had a crushing effect on the individual. A person is reduced to a number, his/her identity is diminished, almost transparent. Keith Ervin's installation uses these thoughts as his starting point. On a metallic silver ground he has mounted a diagonal grid of 13 inch circumference circular images. The distinctiveness of the figures in these digital photos is seen to be 'erased', stripped of personal identity. |

Sculpture Garden : "Yurt City " installation by Sheila Ross & Laura Ten Eyck with special guests: Todd Knopke, Ted McGurn & Derrick Wilson |
Just ended: Upcoming: |
|
Hot summer nights under stars. Pitch your tent under the new condo construction. Dam Stuhltrager's Sculpture Garden fills with various prefabricated tents and modified yurts. Sheila Ross and Ten Eyck create a unique "tent city" for fellow artists to inhabit and modify. Functional, fantastical and vagrantly political, "Yurt City" is both a metaphor and response to the changing landscape of Williamsburg. |
