Kristen Jensen's sculptural series and performance elegantly grapple with the conflicting desires for external protection and inner strength.
In her "My Armor/es" series, bathing caps are given a permanence when cast in porcelain, evoking delicate protective helmets whose purpose is belied by the material itself. This dichotomy similarly presents itself in Jensen's performance "Some Grace". The simple act of jumping rope becomes imbued with the preciousness and futility of life, as the rope itself has been hand beaded to resemble glass.
